The site formed the former highways depot for West Yorkshire County Council which was sold off following the abolition of the County Council. The site which extended to around 20 acres was operated for HGVs and industrial development and was located wholly within the Green Belt. A case of very special circumstances for the sites redevelopment for housing purposes was put forward as part of a planning application. This was subsequently approved and the site now forms a large scale residential site.
